The system of Jabi-doryang-chambeop 『慈悲道場懺法』 is composed of 3 parts along with the three category theory (三周說) of the Lotus-sutra, which divides the practitioner into the highminded, the middle minded, and the low level. Each of the 3 parts has the system of the ritual of the Buddhist repentance, which is composed of 5 parts called the five kinds of contrition (五悔) which, in fact, mean the Buddhist repentance themselves. So when the practitioner practices Jabi-doryang-chambeop, hebe comes practiced in the two kinds of repentance, namely, the rational repentance (理懺) and the repentance by means of prayer chanting or reciting the sutra (事懺) from the practice for the high minded level to the practice for the low minded level along with the system of Jabi-doryang-chambeop . The true aim of the practice for repentance is not to purify the emotions imply but to achieve a better personality by the integrated practice of the five kinds of contrition. In this point, it would be interesting to compare the conception of the repentance of Buddhism and Christianity. And we can find that the compassion ate meditation is related with the belief to Maitreya, and the practice of full bowing with five parts of the body(五體投地) is related with the belief to 35 buddhas and 53 buddhas are important factors in the practice system of Jabi-doryang-chambeop .
