This paper pays attention to similarities between Bereavement (Mourning) Process Model and Chakra Balancing Model to build yogic paradigm as a foundation of practical program. First, main symptoms of family survivors’ experiences explained in Grief Wheel Model (Spangler & Demi), Grief Model (Wolfelt), Double Process Model (Strobe & Schut) among Bereavement (Mourning) Process Models are examined. Secondly, we overview chakra Model which is often used in modern yoga: theory of five sheaths, modern chakra theory, general contents of seven chakras and so forth. Existing bereavement models are insufficient to grasp bodily symptoms (diseases included) in family survivors’ experienced symptoms. This part seems to be supplemented with modern chakra theory. We lastly tries to seize similarities, which is the main issue in this paper, between Grief Wheel Model among Bereavement (Mourning) Process Models and Chakra Balancing Model. Family survivors need help most at the stages of shock, denial, confusion of Grief Wheel Model. Therefore these three stages are compared with Chakra Balancing Model. We studied the characteristics of balanced conditions of chakra and later examined relationships between experienced symptoms of unbalanced conditions of chakras and those of the stages of shock, denial, confusion. In unbalanced condition, negative emotion that exists in each chakra appears and Judith calls this demon. Also we examined the characteristics of insufficient and excess states of each chakra which can complement and expand the explanations of Bereavement (Mourning) Process Model. Results show that the shock stage considerably corresponds to mūlādhāra, the denial stage to svādhiṣṭhāna and maṇipura, and the confusion stage to anāhata. This study constructs a theoretical paradigm to adopt practical techniques of Chakra Balancing to help family survivors.
